Maui Nō Ka ʻOi “Maui is the Best”
If you are searching for a relaxing getaway, look no further. This island has it all from beautiful beaches, breathtaking sunsets, and great restaurants. The experience is truly one in a million. The locals are warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helping in any way they can. The natives are very protective of the island and prefer to keep it as natural as possible and it definitely shows. With these tips, I hope you’ll fall in love with the island just as I did.
Beaches
- The first beach I recommend is called Waiʻānapanapa State Park, otherwise known as Black Sand Beach. This area closes at 6pm so I recommend to get there early to enjoy the day at the beach. This beach offers great scenery, cave exploration, and more.
- Lahaina Beach is another great beach to explore. This is great for snorkeling and to see some beautiful colored fish. You might get lucky and catch some views of some sea turtles. There are also some caves to explore in the area so look for those.
- Ka’anapali Beach is my favorite of all the beaches. This beach is three miles long so if you are one who enjoys nice long walks in the sand, this is perfect. There is clear blue water to look out on, which makes this another great beach to bring your snorkeling gear. There is a a large rock known as Black Rock which is perfect for cliff jumping.
Restaurants
- Monkeypod Kitchen– This Hawaiian restaurant is great for trying local dishes. I would recommend the poke tacos for starters. The lobster deviled eggs are also to die for. For the main course, I would lean towards the seared Ahi steak, or if you want a shareable meal, the Kalua pork and pineapple pizza is great.
- Ka’ana Kitchen– Located at the Andaz Maui Wailea Resort, this is my favorite place to go for breakfast. The views are spectacular to look out over the ocean (pro tip: if you go in January you may see a whale or two). One of the other great features of this restaurant that I enjoyed is the ability to watch your meal being made. The first meal I would recommend is their amazing Ka’ana benedict. The hollandaise sauce is amazing. If you’re looking for a meal on the lighter side, I would recommend the gluten free mochi waffles. You will love the coconut syrup. You will also have the option to choose the buffet. Any choice you make, you can’t go wrong (pro tip: be sure to get a day pass to the resort, where you can relax in any of the four infinity pools, rent one of the many day beds, and enjoy the beautiful private beach).
- Maui Brewing Company– A great place to kick back, relax, and enjoy a tasty lunch with a delicious pint. If you enjoy beer as much as I do, this is the spot to go to. Food wise, I would recommend the guava bbq pork slider trio, which is easy to share and beyond delicious. If you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone, give the house made beet hummus a try. They offer a tour which is fun to get an inside look on how it’s all made.
In conclusion, Maui offers the perfect combination of natural beauty, exciting adventures, and delicious food that makes it an unforgettable destination. Whether you’re lounging on the stunning beaches, exploring local caves, or savoring the flavors of amazing Hawaiian dishes, the island has something for everyone. The welcoming locals and preserved natural surroundings make the experience even more special. With the tips provided, I’m sure you’ll fall in love with Maui just as I did, and I hope your time on this island is as memorable and relaxing as possible.
